Terms of use
The terms on which you use this website, and how they sit alongside the written confirmation for a trip.
1. Who we are
This website is operated by Explore Karo, a holiday planning company with desks at Siliguri, West Bengal and Bengaluru, Karnataka. Where these terms say we, us or our, they mean Explore Karo. Where they say you, they mean anyone using this website or sending us an enquiry through it. You can reach us at info.explorekaro@gmail.com, on +91 70013 30968 or +91 98836 80968.
2. What this website is
This website publishes our holiday itineraries and the rate at which we run them, and lets you send us an enquiry. It is not a booking engine. Nothing here takes a payment, holds a seat or a room, or forms a contract. Sending an enquiry places no obligation on either of us.
3. Rates on this website
Each rate shown is per head, in Indian rupees, on the minimum group size stated on that package, and covers the land arrangements described on its page. Airfare, visa fees and travel insurance sit outside it unless a package says otherwise.
Rates are based on supplier costs current at the time of publishing and on past departures. They move with season, availability, group size, currency and supplier revisions, and with any change in government taxes, permit fees or levies. A rate shown here is an indication of what a trip costs, not a quotation, and not a guarantee of price or availability. Your quotation is the written confirmation a planner sends you for your own dates, and only that figure is binding.
4. Itineraries and what can change
Day-by-day itineraries describe how a trip is normally run. Sequencing, opening days and internal travel times vary with season, weather, road conditions, local restrictions and the operating hours of the places involved. Where a sight, activity or route cannot be run safely or at all, we will substitute something comparable or, where that is not possible, reflect it in your confirmation.
Accommodation is described by category, not by name, because availability moves. The specific properties for your trip are named in your written confirmation, and if one becomes unavailable after confirmation we will provide an alternative of a similar category.
5. Booking, payment and cancellation
A booking exists only once we have issued a written confirmation and you have paid the amount it specifies by the date it specifies. Deposit amounts, payment stages, cancellation windows, date-change rules, refund treatment and any amendment fees are set out in that confirmation. They differ from trip to trip, because they follow the terms of the hotels, transport operators, cruise operators and permit authorities involved in that particular itinerary, and those are the terms that apply to you.
Where a supplier's own cancellation terms are stricter than ours — as is common with group departures, cruises, high-season stays and restricted-area permits — those stricter terms apply, and your confirmation will say so before you commit.
6. Documents and eligibility
You are responsible for holding valid travel documents: photo identification for domestic travel, and a passport with sufficient validity, the correct visa and any required permits for travel abroad. Several of our routes cross restricted areas that need an Inner Line Permit or an equivalent, and some are open only to Indian nationals. We will tell you what is needed and help you prepare it, but we cannot be responsible for an authority declining entry, a permit or a visa, or for travel missed as a result.
7. Fitness, safety and your own judgement
Some of our itineraries involve long drives, significant altitude, forest treks and water activities. Where that is the case, the package page says so. You are responsible for being honest with us about fitness, mobility and medical conditions that affect what you can do, so that we can plan around them. You are responsible for your own decisions on the trip, and for following the instructions of guides, drivers and local authorities.
8. Our responsibility, and its limits
We plan your trip and we arrange it with the suppliers who deliver it. We take responsibility for planning it properly and for arranging what your confirmation says we will arrange.
We are not responsible for events outside our reasonable control — weather, landslides, floods, road and bridge closures, strikes, civil disturbance, epidemics, acts of government, or the cancellation, delay or rescheduling of flights and trains — nor for any cost you incur because of them. We are not responsible for loss, theft or damage to your belongings, or for injury or illness, except where it results from our own failure to take reasonable care. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
9. Content on this website
The text, itineraries, layout, the Explore Karo name and the Explore Karo logo belong to us. You are welcome to read, print and share pages for your own travel planning. You may not republish, resell or use them commercially without our written permission. Photography on this site is licensed from third parties and is used to illustrate the destination, not to depict a specific hotel, room, vehicle or departure.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from them or from a trip we arrange is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Siliguri, West Bengal.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as our service changes. The version published here at the time you send an enquiry is the version that applies to it.
