Arrive and drive to Darjeeling via MirikMet at NJP station or Bagdogra airport and driven up through tea gardens to Darjeeling, by way of Mirik Lake — pine forest, boating, horse riding and the arch bridge. Evening on Mall Road. About 75 km, 4 hours.

Darjeeling — full dayOut at about 04:00 for Tiger Hill at 2,586 m and sunrise over Kanchenjunga, weather permitting, then Ghoom monastery and the Batasia Loop. After breakfast: the Japanese Temple and Peace Pagoda, Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park and the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (closed Thursdays), Tenzing and Gombu Rocks, the Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Centre (closed Sundays) and a tea garden.

Darjeeling to GangtokA drive through the hills with the Teesta running alongside. Check in at Gangtok and spend the evening on MG Marg among the cafés and shops.

Tsomgo Lake and Baba MandirFull-day excursion to Tsomgo Lake and the New Baba Mandir, high above Gangtok. Back to the hotel for the night.

Gangtok to Bagdogra or NJPBreakfast, then the drive back down to the airport or railway station.
Nathula Pass is optional, at extra cost, on an advance permit, for Indian nationals only, and is closed on Mondays.
